Opening of a plaque in memory of Soviet prisoners of war in the Hartheim Castle complex

Today, on December 5, 2022, in continuation of the commemorative events on the occasion of the Day of the Unknown Soldier, heads of Russian diplomatic missions in Vienna - joined by the Ambassadors of the CIS member states - took part in the opening of a plaque in memory of Soviet prisoners of war in the Hartheim Castle complex.

Hartheim Castle, located in the municipality of Alkoven (Federal State of Upper Austria), is an example of Renaissance architecture of the XVI century.

During the World War II, this place was known as Hartheim Killing Facility, one of the main centers of forced euthanasia, victims of which were about 30 thousand people.
