In connection with the President`s of the Russian Federation signature put to the Federal Law "Ratification of the Convention on the Marking of Plastic Explosives for the Purpose of Identification"

On July 24 the President of the Russian Federation signed the Federal Statute "Ratification of Convention on the Marking of Plastic Explosives for the Purpose of Identification".

The Russian Federation attaches special importance to this event, since this Convention is the last of 13 international counterterrorist treaties, which were ratified by the Russian Federation. It confirms once again an active collaboration of the Russian Federation in fight of the international community against international terrorism and our willingness to fulfil in full-scale our international obligations, which arise from corresponding international instruments.

Convention on the Marking of Plastic Explosives for the Purpose of Identification was accepted and opened for signature of International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) in 1991, and came into force on June 21, 1998. The USSR signed Convention on March 1, 1991. Today it is ratified by 134 states.

The purpose of Convention is prevention of acts of terrorism by means of explosives, aimed at destruction of aircrafts, other transport and objectives, creation of international procedure of plastic explosives’ marking.
