Russian Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergey Lavrov Meets Director General of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) Kandeh Yumkella.

Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov received on June 21 the Director General of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), Kandeh Yumkella, who is in Russia on a working visit.

During the conversation Lavrov reaffirmed Russia’s invariable support for UNIDO as a leading international organization in questions of industrial development and highly evaluated the results of its activity. He stressed the keenness of Russia on preserving the positive dynamics in the renewal of UNIDO in the context of the reformation of the socioeconomic sector of the UN with emphasis on strengthening the effectiveness of activities in the field of development.

The sides discussed the possibilities of further reinvigorating cooperation with respect to energy supply and energy efficiency, technological forecasting, industrial ecology and setting up clean production facilities as well as of joint work on the modernization of industrial plants.

Lavrov informed Yumkella of the approval by the President of the Russian Federation of a Concept of Russia’s Participation in the Promotion of International Development.
